Short answer: this MeetNow FAQ collects short answers to the questions people ask most. MeetNow is a free app for meeting people in person: a host posts a plan at a public place with a date, time, seats and who pays; people ask to join with a short note; the host picks who comes; accepted guests get a group chat; and afterwards both sides confirm “we met”. It is live on the web at app.trymeetnow.com, starting in Malta, with the iPhone and Android apps coming soon.
Each answer below is deliberately short. Where there is more to say, we link to the full help page. If your question is not here, the help pages linked throughout go into more detail.
MeetNow in five steps
- Post a plan. A host picks a real public place, sets the date, time and number of seats, and says who pays.
- People ask to join. Anyone who likes the plan sends a request with a short note.
- The host picks who comes. The host sees each request and accepts or declines. Nobody joins without a yes.
- Group chat. Accepted guests get a group chat with the host to sort out the details.
- Confirm you met. Afterwards both sides confirm “we met”, which builds each person’s track record.
A quick glossary
A few words come up again and again in the answers below. Here is what each one means on MeetNow:
- Plan: something to do at a real public place, with a date, a time, a number of seats and a who-pays option. Plans are the heart of MeetNow.
- Host: the person who posts the plan and decides who joins it.
- Guest: someone whose request to join a plan has been accepted.
- Note: the short message you send with a request to join, telling the host who you are and why the plan appeals to you.
- Who pays: the money rule every plan states up front: host pays, split equally, pay your own, or free.
- Group chat: the chat that accepted guests share with the host for a plan.
- “We met”: the confirmation both sides give after a plan has happened.
- Track record: what those confirmations add up to, showing who actually turns up to plans. It is not a rating.
- Who-can-join limits: the host’s option to limit a plan by gender or age range.
- Block: the option every user has to block someone who makes them uncomfortable.
What plans look like
To make the answers below more concrete, here are four typical plans:
- “Group dinner at a restaurant in Valletta, Friday 20:00, 5 seats, split the bill.”
- “Padel doubles at a club in the north, Saturday 10:00, 3 seats, split the court.”
- “Sunset walk along the Sliema promenade, Sunday 17:30, 4 seats, free.”
- “Coffee for people new to Malta, Saturday 11:00, 4 seats, pay your own.”
Each one names the activity, the place, the time, the seats and who pays, so everyone knows what they are saying yes to before they ask to join.
MeetNow FAQ: the basics
What is MeetNow?
MeetNow is a free app for meeting people in person. Instead of profiles and swiping, it is built around plans: a dinner, drinks, a game, a walk or a concert at a real public place. You join a plan you like, or post your own. Read the full guide: what MeetNow is and how it works.
Is MeetNow a dating app?
No. MeetNow is plans, not profiles. The focus is on doing something together, usually with a small group, not on matching with one person. More in is MeetNow a dating app?.
Is MeetNow free?
Yes, MeetNow is free. What you spend depends on the plan itself and its who-pays option: host pays, split, pay your own or free.
What kinds of plans are there?
Anything that happens at a public place: dinners, drinks, coffee, sports such as padel or tennis, walks and hikes, beach mornings, board games, concerts. The host describes the plan, the place, the time and the number of seats.

Joining plans
How do I join a plan?
Open a plan you like and ask to join with a short note. The host sees your note and your profile and accepts or declines. If you are accepted, you are added to the plan’s group chat.
What should I write in my note?
Something short and specific: who you are, why the plan appeals to you and anything the host asked for, such as your level at a sport. For example: “Hi, I moved to Sliema recently and I’d love to try this restaurant with new people.”
What happens after the plan?
Both sides confirm “we met”. Each confirmation builds each person’s track record, which shows who actually turns up to plans. It is not a rating. More in what a MeetNow track record is.
Hosting plans
How do I host a plan?
Post a plan at a real public place with the date, time, number of seats and who pays. People ask to join with a short note, and you accept or decline each request. Step by step: how to host a plan on MeetNow.
Can I choose who joins my plan?
Yes. You accept or decline every request, and you can limit who can join, for example by gender or age range. You never have to accept anyone, and you do not have to give a reason.
How many seats should my plan have?
It depends on the plan. Small groups of three to six usually work best for dinners, drinks and walks; sports plans need the number of players the game requires.
Who pays
Who pays on a MeetNow plan?
Every plan states who pays before anyone asks to join. The host chooses one of four options: host pays, split equally, pay your own, or free.
Does MeetNow handle payments or sell tickets?
No. MeetNow does not handle payments or sell tickets. People pay at the place as they normally would, following the plan’s who-pays option. For a concert plan, each guest buys their own ticket from the official seller.

MeetNow FAQ: safety and trust
Is MeetNow safe?
MeetNow is built for meeting in public: plans happen at public places, hosts choose who joins, accepted guests talk in a group chat, anyone can block a user, and track records show who turns up. Common sense still applies: tell a friend where you are going, make your own way there and home, and leave if something feels off. More in is MeetNow safe?.
Does MeetNow verify users?
No. MeetNow does not run ID or background checks and does not have ratings. Hosts decide using each person’s note, profile and track record of confirmed plans.
What can I do if someone makes me uncomfortable?
Decline their request if they have not joined yet, leave the plan if you are there, ask staff at the venue for help if needed, and block the user. In an emergency in Malta, call 112.
